Causes of contact failure of conductors in aviation plug pin jacks

source:Industry News release time:2020-11-10 Article author:sznbone Popular:POGO PIN

At present, the connections between the internal conductors of domestic aviation plugs are all flexible connections such as slotted jacks, spring claws, and bellows. Because the size is relatively small and the strength is poor, it is easy to have poor contact and cause its failure. So, what caused its failure?

First, the size of the conductor in the pin jack:

If the conductor aperture in the aviation plug jack is smaller than the specified size, the jack will be enlarged when the pin enters the jack, causing plastic deformation of the jack, causing damage to the conductor in the jack; if the pin diameter is too small, When the pin and the socket are matched, the gap between the pin and the wall of the socket is increased, which makes it difficult for the inner conductor to contact closely, enhances the contact resistance, and reduces the electrical performance index of the aviation plug. Therefore, contact failure has always occurred. When the socket and the pin are matched, the insertion force and the holding force of the standard gauge pin and the conductor in the socket can be used to check whether it is reasonable; the size and tolerance of the socket and the pin can also be adjusted. With the aging treatment process of the conductor in the socket, the insertion force and retention force between the pin and the socket can be maintained in a suitable range, and the failure caused by this reason can be solved.

Second, the design and processing of the conductor in the pin jack:

If the design or processing of the slotted part of the conductor in the jack is unreasonable, and the aging treatment of the conductor in the jack is not appropriate, the inner conductor will have poor elasticity, which will cause poor contact in the aviation plug; if the slot length is too short, it will increase the gap between the two The contact force and insertion force increase the wear of the inner conductor, and even cause the inner conductor or the dielectric support to be deformed or damaged, reduce the fatigue strength of the jack, and reduce the service life of the aviation connector. In order to enhance the contact force between the jack and the pin, the slot width is generally expanded in a timely manner, but due to the increase in the slot width, the contact area between the jack and the pin on the circumference will be reduced, enhancing the discontinuity of the transmission line It has an impact on electrical performance; if the number of slots in the aviation plug is large, the distribution force on the wall of the single-lobe jack will be smaller, and the wear of the inner conductor surface can be reduced when the jack and the pin are matched, but this also It will reduce the contact area between the jack and the pin, and increase the discontinuity of the transmission line. If there are burrs on the inner wall of the socket, the inner wall of the socket and the pin cannot be in complete contact. Only by reasonably designing the length and width of the conductor slot in the jack as well as the number of slots, and cleaning the burrs in the jack when processing the slots on the jack, can effectively solve the connection failure.
