The difference between antenna thimble and antenna shrapnel

time:2020-11-30 Views:260

There are many kinds of connectors, let’s take a look at the difference between antenna shrapnel and antenna thimble.

The antenna shrapnel is widely used in power contact devices, and the most used one is the straight cantilever leaf spring with the simplest shape. The resistance of the contact piece must be small, so it is made of bronze. The antenna shrapnel has the characteristics of good conductivity, high tensile elasticity, high shielding effect, good corrosion resistance, long service life, and easy installation. However, the antenna shrapnel also has problems such as large size, inability to pass large currents, and damage to the shrapnel when compressed.

The antenna thimble is mainly a spring-type probe formed by the three basic components of the needle shaft, the spring and the needle tube after being riveted and pre-compressed by precision instruments, and finally assembled with plastic to form the antenna thimble. Antenna thimble is usually used in the precise connection of electronic products such as mobile phones, communications, automobiles, drones, smart robots, aerospace, etc., which can improve the corrosion resistance, stability and durability of the connector. The antenna thimble has the characteristics of small size, high current resistance, long service life, and waterproof.

In addition, the antenna thimble and antenna shrapnel have the following advantages and disadvantages:

  1. Compared with the same size antenna shrapnel, the antenna thimble has greater compression and the contact will be more stable. When subjected to a strong external force, the spring pressure of the antenna thimble will change slightly.

  2. Under the same compression condition, the antenna thimble will take up less space than the antenna shrapnel.

3, the antenna thimble does not need to open the stamping die, and the time for sending samples and mass production is short.

  4. The contact point of the antenna thimble cannot move when it is compressed, and the antenna shrapnel will move relative to each other. If there is foreign matter or dirt in the contact position, the conduction is prone to failure.
