  Electrical contact failure of automotive connectors may be caused by a variety of reasons, which seriously affect the reliability and safety of automotive electronic systems.

  On the one hand, environmental factors are one of the important reasons for electrical contact failure. During operation, automobiles will face various harsh environmental conditions, such as high temperature, low temperature, humidity, vibration, etc. High temperature will soften the connector material, reduce its mechanical strength and conductivity; low temperature may cause the material to become brittle and easy to break. A humid environment will cause oxidation and corrosion on the connector surface, increase contact resistance, and even cause a short circuit. Vibration will cause looseness between the pins and sockets of the connector, affecting the stability of the contact.

  On the other hand, too many plugging and unplugging times will also cause electrical contact failure. As the car is used for a longer time, the number of plugging and unplugging of the connector continues to accumulate. Frequent plugging and unplugging will cause the surface of the pins and sockets to wear, reduce the contact area, and thus increase the contact resistance. At the same time, the mechanical stress generated during the plugging and unplugging process will also deform the structure of the connector, affecting the reliability of the contact.

  In addition, the design and manufacturing quality of the connector will also affect the stability of the electrical contact. If the design is unreasonable, such as the inaccurate matching size of the pin and socket, insufficient contact pressure, etc., it is easy to cause poor contact. Quality problems in the manufacturing process, such as impure materials, improper surface treatment, and poor welding, can also affect the electrical contact performance of the connector.

  Finally, current overload is also a potential factor leading to electrical contact failure. When the current in the automotive electronic system exceeds the rated current of the connector, it will cause the connector to heat up or even burn, resulting in electrical contact failure.
