  However, Bradstock's test also found that although the USB power connection is symmetrical, the data connection in Lightning is asymmetrical. He believes that the dynamic allocation of pins in the interface is done by the chip in the iPhone 5. The Lightning interface of iPhone 5 may read the data from the pin, and then dynamically adjust it according to the way the cable is inserted.

  The dynamic chip allocation completed by the iPhone 5 also explains why the verification chip is hidden in the Lightning cable. The location of the chip is between the USB V+ contacts and the Lightning power supply contacts.

  The new Lightning connector has a complex structure, which is 80% smaller than the previous connector.
